Halloween Eve Recap

Hello you loopy ewes! Despite the fact that I didn't feel well I had a fun night. I didn't think I'd last as long as I did!

Judi the snacks were good! I enjoyed the meatballs. I've never had turkey meatballs. I also liked those chips :) :) Thanks for all the goodies :) I must say the colors of that blanket you are so nice! I'm sure it will be a treasure for the recipient!

Dawnelle it looks like you've done a lot of work on that sweater. Did you have a question you wanted to ask me. I seem to remember you starting to ask something but don't recall if you did! I'm sorry you had to unknit your sock. It is a very pretty one! Thank goodness for Judi's feet!

Kathleen, I've been there done that on the mitten. Trust me the third one is much easier! I really like that hat you are making and want to try one! I forgot to ask what color flowers are you going to make? I'll look through the mitten patterns for you to see if I have one that might work.

Ingrid, the mitten you made is so pretty. The yarn is so soft!!!! It knits up pretty easily doesn't it! I don't think you will have a problem with the stuffed one you are making. Yours will be better because of my mistakes! I wish I knew to stuff my thumb better!!! It knits up pretty quickly. If you need help the hot line will be open! (just not tonight!)

I came home to fine two nicely carved jack-o-lanterns. Rich and Timmy did a good job! I'll have to take pictures to share! (the sharp objects were kept away from me!) I hope to finish my second mitten this weekend. I also want to work on that baby blanket some. Judi here's the pattern for the baby blanket.

Have a fun night tomorrow ladies!

take care,
Dawn K

Hey Guys, I'm catching up on the blog! I missed you! I got home around 10:30, exhausted and wound up so much that I couldn't sleep until 1 a.m. How was the knitting? I have been knitting, you'll be proud of me. But I screwed up on the plane, so I put it away for awhile. For now, I am working on 3 Halloween costumes for a last minute party on Saturday.
What's this I hear about a trip to Falmouth? Wait a minute, you can't go without me! (Actually, I was at the Sage last Sunday! I bought the yarn for the baby blanket I'm working on.)
I can do snacks nest Tuesday, but would you mind if we come to your house Ingrid? If not, I can do it. Let's talk!
Glad to be back. Baltimore was great, not much fun, but interesting stuff. See you all on Tuesday. Judi

World Series Wednesday!

A little recap of the night! It was nice to get together tonight even if it was just a few of us! Ingrid thanks again for hosting. It's always so much fun and your house is so comfy and inviting. (the upstairs ain't bad either LOL!) I knew you would "get" the sock!!!!! I'm glad to help put you back on track. Next week I will have my cuff done on my mitten so we can begin the fun part together. I'm so mad I forgot my 3's. I wasn't even thinking that they don't come in the Knit Pick kit! At least I got to work on baby boy B's blanket.

Kathleen, I am loving the color of your mittens. They are so pretty. I think your W&T look perfect!!!! When it felts it will be just lovely!!! Do you have the yarn for Livy Loo's pair?

Dawn that sweater is going to be so nice! I'm sure it will be halfway done by Tuesday when we meet again LOL!!! You did a lot tonight! I wish I were free tomorrow at 4. I'd love to go with you. Yes, let's plan that trip to Falmouth! I'm sure I could come up with something I need to buy :) :)

GO RED SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Wednesday Night Recap!

Hello Loopy Ewes! Wednesday night was a blast! I'm still laughing about that poor man's name! Cathy, thank you for all of the delicious eats. I could not tear myself away from your garden taco dip. Delish! The eclairs you brought were very tasty, and they were so good that I was eating them one after another like m&m's! Your dishcloth is beautiful . . . a Cathy M original! Dawn, your mittens came out spectacularly! You are truly a knitting genius! Dawnelle, I am in love with that monkey sock! Someday, somehow I'm going to have to try one! Ingrid, your brown and green socks are looking so nice! You can do it! Judi, your Fibonacci scarf looks awesome and eclectic. Thanks for all of the yarn sharing, and I hope you have fun in Baltimore next week!

Loopy Ewes, I have to thank you for the beautiful flowers and the adorable sheep card. You ladies went above and beyond with both. Don't you all know that I selfishly invited you all to the sleepover so that I could have a blast with all of my knitting buddies? You guys were doing me a favor!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Kathleen :-)

Photo Montage

Hi Ladies,

What can I say. I had the most fun last night and this morning. I uploaded the pictures to a slide show and then added this same slide show to our sidebar. Judi if you have some pictures you want to add you can email them to me.

Kathleen your mother's home is simply gorgeous!!!! I am sure I speak for all of us when I say THANK EWE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The scarves that Kathleen, Dawnelle, and Judi were making really are cool looking. I think you all pooled a great supply of yarn.

Pam I love the mitten! I want to make one to not felt for a school project :) Oh and that blueberry bread pudding was so good. Please do share the recipe!

Cathy, YAY! You finished your booga bag. I will certainly be speedy felting it for you. I think we need to call you the purling princess now :) Judi will love the dish cloth you are making. Thanks for your snack. The chips and salsa were my favorite!

Judi (or Udi!) you certainly got all of your felting done last night! The booga bag is so pretty. I love the colors!! As I mentioned above the scarf you began is so pretty!! Thanks for the chicken and rice. Both were very tasty! I also can't tell you how much I enjoyed that coffee this morning. I could use a cup right now :)

Dawnelle. Thank you so much for that mitten help. I hope the second one comes out easier for me. That W&T really threw me off last night. Your scarf is so lovely as well. Thanks also for sharing the Captain with me :) :) :) :) The sundaes from last night were so delicious! I also enjoyed the fruit this morning.

Kathleen, I just love those socks you finished. The colors are beautiful. Your scarf is pretty cool looking too. I think I'm most intrigued by the knitting needles you were using! :) The chili you made was so very good. Thanks! Your frittata looked pretty good. I'm sure others will rave about for me! (sorry I'm not an egg fan).

As for me...well, I'm a bit disappointed in the mitten I am making. The W&T holes aren't making me happy! I did finish the first one tonight. Maybe the second one won't be as frustrating with a little more sleep. Speaking of sleep. I came home and took a three hour nap with Mackenzie!

The field trip was fun. I enjoyed all the displays and am looking forward to making those mittens (same as yours Ingrid) after I wrap up my last few lingering projects.

I hope you ladies enjoy the pictures.

take care,
Dawn

A rose by any other name

So, it's one in the morning and I was woken up by the sound of thunder. I have been in bed tossing and turning....and oh so tired! My mind began to wonder. To what you might ask...well to Dawnelle. It crossed my mind that Dawn L (aka Dawnelle) has a lovely nickname made from her first name and last name initial. Where is this leading you might ask now...it's leading to me, Dawn K. There's really not a nice flowing way to say that. Unless of course you start hearing Mike Myer's voice from Shrek say it and I now become...Donkey!!!

Hmmmmm. What are you worried about now you might be asking yourself....I am hoping that no one decides to "nicknameize" that and simply refer to me as an a$$. Just a thought I will ponder as I go back to sleep!! take care,
Dawn K

Thanks, everybody, for a wonderful birthday. I really appreciate all the effort and positive wishes. I can't think of a better birthday in years. I am very excited about tomorrow night. Dawn, I didn't realize you were making chicken, I would have made something different!

Mostly, I am excited about learning all about felting. Yippee!!

See you guys around 5:30. Judi, the birthday girl.

"Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I Love Ya, Tomorrow!"

We're on the brink of our first ever sleepover, Loopy Ewes! I can't wait! I hope you are all as excited as I am. I thought I would post the food line-up, so we all know what goodies to expect in our fun 24 hours, as well as a few reminders.

Evening
Snacks - Cathy
Vegetable Chili - Kathleen
Crockpot Chicken - Dawn
Chicken Dish - Judi
Margaritas - Pam
Cider - Kathleen (rum - d.elle?)
Sundaes - Dawnelle

Morning
Coffee- Judi
Blueberry Bread Pudding - Pam
Potato Casserole - Dawn
Frittata - Kathleen
Fresh Fruit - Dawnelle
Bacon - Judi

If you are felting, make sure you bring a zippered pillowcase, agitator (like towels or jeans) and blocking materials (plastic bags and cereal boxes) if you are blocking. Also if you like to use a special soap, that might come in handy too.

If you want to join in the Fibonacci knit-a-long, bring some leftover balls of yarn from your stash. The scarf comes together in varying rows of different types of yarn. Anything goes with this project, the more variety, the more potential for an eclectic (if you want), one-of-a-kind Loopy Ewe scarf. You can go as crazy or as conservative as you want. The project calls for size US 10 or US 13 needles.

PJs, toothbrush and your favorite teddy bear, if you need it. It gets chilly at the house, so a jacket, fleece or sweatshirt might come in handy.

And don't forget your knitting! Start thinking of upcoming projects that you'll need awesome yarn for, because we're heading to the 26th Annual Wool Fair the next day.

Any questions, concerns or requests, email me or give me a ring!
Here's to the best sleepover, ever! Kathleen :-)

Judi's Loopy Birthday

Judi I'm sorry you weren't feeling well for your big Loopy Birthday. I'm glad you made it though. I'm happy to see that you picked up the clogs and worked on them. Maybe on Friday night you can finish them :) :)
Pam, your mitten color is gorgeous. You really did a lot of work on it since last week. I think you should try the other one the magic loop way. Oh, if you notice the time on this post you'll notice that I am up again this morning too early! We should have coffee!
Susan thanks for the soup and salad. They were both good :) I only saw the little hooded sweater you were working on for a short while, but it was loooooking goooood!
Dawnelle, you are putting us all to shame with those quick fingers of yours. I am so impressed with those mittens! I think I'll bring some yarn and "whip" up a pair this weekend.
Kathleen, will you be wearing the socks on Friday? You should be done then. (I should be too, but I won't). Thanks for the oh so delicious birthday cupcakes. That was very thoughtful of you!
Ingrid, just remember, "I think I can...I think I can...I think I can". The socks you are making should go so much faster than that other pair because the yarn weight is different. I hope you have a good time this weekend at the get together.
I just don't know what got into me last night....talk about loopy!!!!
See you all soon.
take care,
Dawn

Hey Loopy ladies, What a fun night of knitting!

Pam, I really enjoyed your wonderful home, and the food was grand, as usual. I love your doggies and cat. Thanks for the great margarita. I'm getting into the habit! Thanks, Dawn K, for the encouragement. I love the challenge of knitting, it appeals to my adventurous spirit. One day I will be a seasoned pro!
Looking forward to next week. I'm off to New York tomorrow, can't wait to see the big apple. Peace, Judi

A quick recap of the nights events!

Pam thank you for hosting! You have a lovely home! The room we were in was so cozy. Thank you also for the great food! I am proud of myself for getting there and only getting lost once!

Judi how very proud we all are of you for starting that clog! You go girl!!

Pam, it was fun taking a peek at all the projects you are working on. I really liked the color of your mittens.

Dawn, I'm impressed. You are such a fast knitter to not only have finished the scarf, but you make the entire ensemble!! I also love the color of your mitten. I think it would be a nice match to the color in my entrelac scarf ;)

Speaking of lovely colors...Kathleen your yarn is just beautiful! We have to find you a project now to use it on! (I know not a well structured sentence! It's late!) Your sock will be done the next time we meet I'm sure.

Jane, it was so nice to see you. I could sit and listen to your accent all night long! I'm sorry I forgot to say thanks for all the emails you send. They are always fun to read.

I guess we all need to pool our ideas for the big weekend eat off :) :) :) :)

Ingrid, I'm sorry you couldn't make it tonight. You were missed! I will say I took advantage and did a little singing LOL!

Cathy and Sue you were missed as well. I hope to see you both next Wednesday.

take care,
Dawn

Sorry to hear you won't be joining us tonight Ingrid..you will be misseed!

Tuesday, October 2, 2007

I'm Sorry...

I'm really sorry to have to do this, but I have to cancel having our group here tomorrow night :(

I wouldn't do this, especially last minute, unless it was something very important - but this involves a friends daughter that I really need to be there for.

I'll send out an email, just incase someone misses the post. I'm bummed that I'm going to miss our get together... see you guys next week.
Ingrid
