Bitty Baby outfit

For those of you that want the directions I am posting them here.
I have searched and searched the internet for the place where I originally got the pattern and can't find it. I can't give credit because I don't know who to give it to :(

I did discover after I made the first outfit that the pants were too loose and the sweater too tight. I made some adjustments in the pattern.

Materials:
Size 5 (US) needles
Size 7 (US) needles
Size F crochet hook
Small buttons
One 3.5 oz. skein of worsted weight yarn is barely enough to knit the outfit; you may want to buy 2 skeins.

Gauge:
4 sts = 1"

Booties

With size 7 needles, cast on 20 sts.
K1, p1 ribbing for 2.5 inches.
Do three needle bind-off at bottom of bootie, then sew up the back seam.
Make a matching bootie!

Short Pants

Using size 5 needles, cast on 56 sts.
K1, p1 ribbing for 3 rows.
Change to size 7 needles and begin stockinet stitch.

Options:
Cast on 52 sts using size 7 needles.
K1, p1 ribbing for 3 rows.
Begin stockinet stitch, increasing 6 sts across the first row (which will be a knit row).

You may want to do a row of beading below waist ribbing so that you can put a tie in it: K1, *yo, K2 tog, repeat from * across row ending with K1.

Continue in stockinet stitch until piece measures 4".
Using size 5 needles, K1, p1 ribbing for 3 rows.
Bind off.
Sew back seam.
Fold with seam in back and sew only 3 to 4 stitches for the crotch seam.

Using a size F crochet hook, chain 100 sts for a tie.

Bonnet

Using size 7 needles, cast on 39 sts.
K1, P1 in seed stitch for 4 rows.
Work in stockinette stitch until piece measures a total of 2.5 inches.

When doing the following rows to shape the bonnet, slip first stitch of each row:
Row 1: K26, sl 1, kl, psso, turn
Row 2: P14, p2tog turn
Row 3: K14, sl 1, k1, psso, turn
Row 4: p14, p2tog, turn
Row 5: K14, sl 1, k1, psso, turn

Continue as established, decreasing 1 st at end of each row, until 15 sts remain on the needle, ending with a purl row. Break yarn. Place 15 sts on a holder.

Beginning at left front corner of bonnet, pick up 9 sts. Knit 15 sts from holder for back of bonnet; pick up 9 sts on right side of bonnet. K1, p1 ribbing for 3 rows. Bind off.

Ties for the bonnet can be made by crocheting a chain. Or do as I did and just sew a piece of ribbon to the corner edges of the bonnet for ties.

Raglan Cardigan Sweater

This is made from the neck down.

Cast on 48 sts with size 5 needles.
Work 3 rows of ribbing, keeping first and last 4 sts in garter stitch (knit every row).
Change to larger needles.
Work next row, placing markers as follows:
k 10 sts for front, place marker, k 6 sts for sleeve, place marker, k 16 sts for back, place marker, k 6 sts for sleeve, place marker, k 10 sts for front.

Continuing in stockinet stitch, increase every knit row before and after each marker for seven (7) times.

Next row: Knit across row placing sleeve sts on a st holder. Keep body of sweater stitches on needles and cast on 2 sts at each underarm. Do stockinet st on body of sweater for 10 rows or about 1 ½ inches. Then do 5 rows of ribbing using size 5 needles and bind body stitches off.

Put sleeve stitches back on the needle (do either one sleeve or both at the same time with separate balls of yarn). Increase 1 st each side on the first row. Do stockinet stitch for 3"; then do 4 rows of ribbing. Bind off. Sew underarm sleeves. Add decorative buttons that can be buttoned through the garter stitch edge.

take care,
Dawn

Dawn - Thanks so much for posting the pattern! The bitty baby looks gorgeous in the post, and looking at the pattern, I can't believe how quickly you were able to make two lovely outfits! You are a master knitter! I'm keeping the fact that I have the pattern a secret from L, until I can get the shawl done. She's already demanding sets of 4 booties for her Webkinz friends!
