New Puppy Pictures

I've posted some at Ravelry, so these may be repeats, but I wanted to share the new little Bell-monster, I mean princess Bella pictures!
We are totally in love with her! She has been so good and has fit right into our family.

David picked her up at Logan and we were expecting her to be a bit shy & timid after such a long flight/day. Well, she came bouncing right out of her crate, wagging her little tail and gave little puppy kisses to Ashley.

Sophie is having a blast with Bella (though at first Sophie was afraid of her!) And Shelby is being a big mother hen, watching over the 2 of them play. It's really cute.

Shelby's bed was in the wash, but she didn't want to miss sleeping with the gang, so while they were sleeping she inched her way onto the small bed.

She's much smaller than she looks in the following pictures.

You're not the boss of me!!!!

Tonight's anthem...you're not the boss of me!!!

Thank you ladies for joining me tonight for a fun night of almost knitting. I think I got 16 rows done on the booties. That amounts to 1 row for every three nachos and dip I ate :) Sometimes it is more fun to chat and eat!

Judi that scarf of yours is simply gorgeous! You have to be sure to get a picture of it. I love it in that yarn!! I want to make one just to look at it :) I hope you have a productive week on that sock of yours!!!

Dawn L You are just whipping out those hedge hogs. I am looking forwarded to seeing them after the felting weekend. Be sure to get pictures before you give them away! I want to add those to my list of things to make! Thank you for bringing the wine!

Kathleen, the socks are just a PERFECT match! Your singing tonight was stellar! I wish I could keep the tune in my head. I'd like to sing it to a few people myself! :) :) Enjoy the bread pudding with your "eggs" tomorrow!

Ingrid we missed you. I hope you had a wonderful evening with Ashley! (Happy Birthday Ashley!)

We changed next week to Tuesday. It will be at Judi's. Hope to see you all there.

take care,
Dawn

Wine anyone?

I bought some wine glasses today for you ladies. I know some of you enjoy a glass on our knitting nights. Previously all I have had to serve it in were some plastic disposable cups. Now, since I'm not a wine drinker and the wine I used to buy (back in the 80's) was Reunite I need some help! What kind is a good wine to buy to have here for you?

See you tomorrow!

take care,
Dawn K

A night not fit for man nor beast (or in this case sheep!)

It was just not meant to be! Kathleen couldn't make it. Ingrid's baby Bella arrived so Ingrid couldn't make it. Dawn L was feeling under the weather. Pam is taking a break. So....that just left Judi and I. I called her and we decided to just postpone. The weather was icky and it was a good day to stay home and get caught up.
I will volunteer my home again next week since I am still on the snack rotation. I hope that is not a problem for anyone. Let me know!
I actually was so tired that I went to bed at 8:30 last night.
I hope we are all feeling well, settled in with our new puppy, welcoming DH's back home and ready to knit next week.
take care,
Dawn

Mackenzie in her sweater

I went to Britt's yesterday and just my luck I had my camera with me and Mackenzie was wearing the hooded sweater I made her!!! I really want to get Jack's done so I can get a picture of the two of them in their matching sweaters :)

Dawn

Wednesday Recap

I started this the other night but my computer shut down on me...so here we go again.

It was a lovely evening as always. Ingrid, thanks for hosting. You must post those recipes! (especially the stuffed mushrooms LOL!) I think we all have fallen in love with your hedgehog!!! How cute is he?????? I love it! Sorry you spent so much time hosting that you didn't get much knitting done. I hope your bunny is coming along.

Dawn L I love the BFF socks. I think I am going to put those on my list of things to make. The yarn is just beautiful. I hope those clogs shrunk to the right size for you as well. Those were some HUGE feet!

Kathleen, I see that you have been plugging away on your socks. Did you make it to AIK to find a "toe" color?

Judi turned a heel!!!! Good work on those socks. You just zoomed along on that ripple (with an R!) scarf! How's it coming?

Pam, we missed you but understand you need a break. See you when you are ready. :) :) :) :)

I was so tired I was sound asleep by 8:30 last night and haven't gotten much knitting done. Maybe this weekend. I'd like to get a chunk of Jack's sweater done.

See you all soon.

take care,
Dawn

Recipes from Wednesday - LOL!

Here are the recipes for the ranch dip and the taco, nacho, whatever-you-want-to-call-it dip.

Ranch Dip (slightly adapted from Everyday Food Magazine March 2008)

1/2 cup lowfat buttermilk
1/2 cup light mayonnaise
1/2 cup light sour cream
1 teaspoon white wine vinegar
3 scallions, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon dried dill
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste

In a small bowl, whisk together the above ingredients and serve.

(Note: The recipe in the magazine was for a ranch dressing that used  1 cup of buttermilk and omitted the garlic.  I cut down on the buttermilk to make it thicker for dipping, and I think every good ranch needs a little garlic, so I added it!)

Turkey and Bean Taco Dip
1 small onion, chopped
1 jalapeno, seeds and membranes removed, finely chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 1.25 package ground turkey
1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1 bottle Ortega mild taco sauce
1 package shredded Mexican cheese (2 cups)
1 tomato, seeded and diced
3 scallions, thinly sliced
handful of fresh cilantro, chopped

In a large skillet, heat about a tablespoon of olive oil over medium high heat.  Add onion, jalapeno and garlic and saute until soft.  Add ground turkey and cumin, and breaking up the meat with a spoon and cook until meat is no longer pink. Add about half the bottle of taco sauce and the black beans and stir to combine.  Simmer for 5 minutes on low heat.  Add more taco sauce as needed to make the mixture look saucy.  Spread the mixture in the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan.  Top with an even layer of shredded cheese and place under the broiler until cheese is melted.  Remove pan from oven, and sprinkle with chopped tomatoes, scallions and cilantro.  Serve with tortilla chips, salsa, guacamole and sour cream.

You ladies are the best BFF'S EVA!

I swear the whole ride home I was LOLing!!! I LOLed at just about everything we talked about. DawnL you are too funny!

Kathleen great snacks! I just love that dip!!! You'll need to post the recipe! (Jack will never be that far away no matter how far down his post goes!) Every thing was so good. Don't forget to check out AIK to find that yarn.

Dawn your clapotis is simply beautiful. The colors are stunning. I'm glad you brought it to share.

Ingrid I am in awe of that bunny. I want one for ME! I also like the color of your socks. Very pretty. Did you realized this was prolly the first night that everyone, at one time or another, was knitting socks. Also, thanks for hosting.

Judi and Pam we missed you!

I hope to finish my sock this week and get that hooded sweater for Jack just about finished.

It's so much fun getting together with you ladies. I am very glad that chance brought us together.

take care,
Dawn
