Summer Knitting!

Thank you Dawn K. for hosting knitting on such short notice! We all appreciate having a place to congregate...out of earshot!! The knitting seemed to be going a little slower than the grazing, but its always great to have our fellow Loopy Ewes to check in with! I think Dawn K. is the only one who got a substantial knitting done, but I sure am happy to have Judi up and running on the world famous Ravelry site! I think you just about got a bag completed, Dawn! It must be all of those missing knitting hours you are making up for now that you are on "vacation"! I can't wait to see your next Spherey (screwie), Kathleen and your baby blanket, Judi! As for me...one day I will finish that graduation hat! Til next Wed...

Change of Venue

Hello girls. I got an email earlier from Ingrid and she is going away so I offered to host tomorrow night. BYOB and I'll go buy a bottle of wine. See you then!

take care,
Dawn

This is Screwie

It's actually a baseball that was knit from a pattern called Spherey, or rather Poor Man's Spherey. My nephew named it "Screwie" after the talking baseball in the movie, Everyone's Hero.

Spherey caught my eye a few months ago, and a few weeks ago I decided to print out the pattern. That's when things got really screwy. To my dismay, I discovered that the pattern is not available anymore. It was released in a booklet called Unusual Toys to Knit and Enjoy by Jess Hutchison. The booklet is no longer in print, and it is impossible to find. After a frantic search on the internet, I found a pattern by Grace Schnebly called Poor Man's Spherey on the KathrynIvy blog. Thank you Grace! I was able to knit this little guy for my nephew's birthday and he was very well-received. (Once I get an idea in my head, I have to see it through!) The pattern calls for the head to have arms and legs, but after looking into his smiling face, I couldn't picture him with limbs, so he's just a round little baseball.

This little experience just goes to show me that I can't always knit what I want. :-P I was lucky that I was able to find a pattern that looks like the original.

Looking forward to seeing all of you Loopy Ewes tomorrow!

Three Fine Loopy Ewes!

Our group may have been small in number last night, but we still managed to have a blast. Dawnelle put out such a lovely spread - potstickers, cranberry nut cheese torta, salsa, chips - oh my!  And the piece de resistence. . . a very yummy pear gingersnap cheesecake!  It was a grand finale before potluck snacks begin!

Dawnelle was diligently working away on her clap-oh-tea and had a fancy pair of clogs that she had finished and ready to be felted.  Love the colors!  Judi was working on a baby blanket in a beautiful shade of green, and she had a very colorful granny square that she had crocheted in a heartbeat!  I was finishing up the knitting part of the clogs for the man, although I ran into two yarn cake snafus that Judi graciously saved me from.  (You know when the tail gets tangled with the working yarn as the cake diminishes?  Well, anyhoo. . .)  We did run into one knitting snafu last night that none of us could figure out.  We needed our Yarn Whisperer!  Dawn K, we missed you!  We hope you are feeling much better.  Make sure you get some rest!  Ingrid, we missed you too! Have a great trip next week to Holland!  Pam, what happened to you?  We've missed you!

Potluck snacks next week at Judi's house.  Bring whatever you like!  Have a nice weekend, Loopy Ewes!  Keep on knitting! :-) K
